Earlier in the year, the club cashed in on a new fridge simply by throwing its arm up for the CitiPower and Cricket Victoria 2023-24 Canteen Grants program.
Netting a $5,000 grant, United was able to upgrade its cooling stocks with a glass double-door fridge and a new freezer set-up to aid with keeping drinks cold and making ice for cold packs.
Why is this relevant?
The grants scheme is back, meaning more Cricket Shepparton clubs could score some flash new gear to take tea breaks to a whole new frontier.
CitiPower and Cricket Victoria’s Canteen Grants program is gearing up for another round in the 2024-25 season, following a stellar year where $81,000 was distributed to 17 Victorian cricket clubs.
It marks the seventh year of the initiative, which has pumped $360,000 into more than 80 cricket clubs across Victoria.
Successful applicants will earn a leg-up to the tune of up to $5,000 each to bolster electrical safety in their facilities, such as electrical appliances, wiring, switchboards, or infrastructure upgrades.
Cricket Victoria chief executive Nick Cummins threw his weight behind the program, encouraging clubs to put their names forward for the funding stream.
“The Canteen Grants Program continues to help clubs across Victoria maintain a safe environment with the right appliances and electrical safety upgrades,” he said.
“Entering its seventh year in season 2024-25, more than $360,000 has been allocated already, benefitting the clubs, volunteers and wider community.”
The application window for the 2024-25 CitiPower and Cricket Victoria Canteen Grant Program is now open and closes on November 29.
The program is open to Victorian cricket clubs and associated affiliations with specific bodies, with applications available to be made here.
