The top three sides in the Seymour District Cricket Association dominated their opposition on Saturday afternoon in the final round of 2023.
Tallarook tore through Yea at Tallarook Recreation Reserve, bowling the away side out for 107 runs.
Vice-captain Kalon Winnell was the standout bowler with four wickets.
Joshua Rudge and Andrew Dundon provided the lion’s share of runs with the bat.
The only wicket that fell was Dundon, who was caught on 31 runs.
Tallarook chased down the total in 15.1 overs.
Captain Lachlan Watts was pleased that his side finished off the season in style.
“It’s always a massive boost getting a big win in before the Christmas break,” he said.
“We were on top of Yea from the start thanks to some tight bowling from Blake (Munari-O’Dwyer) and Dale (Short), who had them a few down very early.
“They got a little partnership on in the middle overs, but we were able to keep that under control, and Kal Winnell mopped up the tail really well, finishing with four wickets.
“Sometimes the small totals can be a little challenging, but Andy Dundon came out swinging, and we were off to a flyer.
“Josh Rudge is having a great year and finished with eight boundaries. To chase down over a hundred in 15 overs is a great effort.
“We still feel our best cricket is ahead of us, so we’re pleased to be sitting in third going into the break knowing there’s plenty of room for improvement.”
Around the grounds, league leaders Eastern Hill set 207 runs for Avenel to chase at Kings Park Reserve.
A fierce Eagles bowling attack shared around the wickets, and the away side was all out for 103, guaranteeing Eastern Hill top spot on the ladder at Christmas.
Seymour Cricket Club claimed the Christmas number two spot with a win over Alexandra at Chittick Park.
The Redbacks won the toss and batted first, but Seymour was in unmatchable form.
It tore through the Alexandra batting line-up, bowling the away side out for 83 runs.
Seymour chased down the total in 27 overs.
