Echuca Bowls Club’s 45th May Carnival has drawn to a close, with full fields across the nine days making for competitive outings on the greens.

The popular Dan Scott Memorial Mixed Pairs held last Saturday headlined the carnival competitions, and it was an Echuca duo who took this year’s prized gong.
Steve and Michelle Cunnington came out on top in the feature tournament, etching their name onto the clubroom board.
Men’s Pairs honours belonged to Ivan Hicks (Echuca) and Brian Davie (Moama) on day one of the tournament, with Bendigo East’s Steve Fuller and Ian Cail as the runner-up.
In the Ladies Pairs, Gayle Kerr (Mathoura) and June Clifford (Echuca) were triumphant over Echuca pair Wilma Curnow and Kristy Gillingham.
The Roma Opie-skipped Mixed Fours team won the day last Friday, with Merv Harvey’s team the runner-up.
Mixed Triples belonged to the Thomas Downie-skipped trio from Mooroopna, while a Bendigo East side led by Steve Fuller placed second.
It was an all-Echuca final in Monday’s Mixed Fours with Ian Page, Wilma Curnow, Kristy Gillingham and Bill Curnow victorious over Trevor Rickard, Sue Proctor, Max Clifford and June Clifford.
Meanwhile, Kyabram duo Phil Denham and Peter Lomas were successful in Tuesday’s second round of Men’s Pairs ahead of runner-ups Ken Main (Echuca) and Brian Davie (Moama).
Wilma Curnow and Kristy Gillingham continued their successful carnivals with the Ladies Pair gong, Rich River’s Marie Arthurson and Noelene King second.
In Wednesday’s Mixed Triples Maurie Hayley, Jeanette Breen (Kyabram) and John Brown (Echuca) claimed honours with the runner-up team of the Stawell Bowls Club consisting of Gary Blackman, Lesley Habben and Bob Power.
