The Campaspe Valley and District 60 and over bowls group held its Wednesday weekly bowls at Lockington Bowls Club on November 24.

Prior to the game, a minute’s silence was held for the passing of Tom Davis.
On a warm and sultry day, 28 teams consisting of 112 bowlers competed for a chook.
Two teams won three games, then rolled off to within the yardstick.
Winners on the day with three bowls within the yardstick were Tony Deenen’s team from Echuca.
Deenan was joined by lead Kevin McAsey, Albert Clark in second, and John Hollowood as skip.
Runners-up from Rochester, with two bowls within the yardstick, were Rod McAsey, Bert Smolenaars, Alan Benson and Tim Quinlan (s).
Today, Wednesday, December 1, 60 and over bowls is at Ky Valley View Bowls Club with a 10am start.

Echuca
Sixteen regular bowlers and 13 “come and try” newcomers attended Monday’s twilight social bowls last week.
In ideal conditions, the winners were Craig Beck, Chris Lynch and Noel McMaster with two wins (+23 shots) from Albie Clark, Gavin Green and J. McLaren with two wins and +12 shots.
Thursday’s jackpot pairs saw 48 bowlers take to the greens under threatening skies.
With seven teams winning both their games the competition was hot.
Best one game went to Steve McCartney and Ian Page with +24 shots.
Overall winners were Bill Curnow and Evan Berryman (+25) from runners-up Toby Egan and Eugene Xodo with +23 shots.
A reminder that the two Christmas fours events are scheduled to run on Wednesday, December 8 and Thursday, December 9.

Twenty-two players played three games of nine ends.
The winners on 33 points were M. Barkham (skip) and P. Kerr; runners-up with 34 points were C. Glass (skip), M. McFadzean and L. Portwine.
Consolation prizes went to C. Hicks, M. McFadzean and P. Barkham.
Mathoura
Friday night MPL is going well, with the semi-final to be played on Friday, December 3 with play to start at 6pm.
Mathoura’s Xmas Open Fours is scheduled for Sunday, December 12 with a 10am start.

Lockington
The club is mourning the sad loss of esteemed life member Tom Davis, who passed away on Sunday, November 21.
Tom was a tireless worker and a committed member of the Lockington Bowls Club over many years.
He served in the positions of club president for four years, club treasurer from 1997 to 2007 as well as a pennant selector, club delegate, team manager and bar manager.
Tom also won the 2002-03 B-grade championship and was runner-up in the club championship three years later.
A popular member of our club, Tom was also a highly respected bowler among the local bowling fraternity, evident by the large gathering at his funeral on Sunday.
Sincere condolences have been extended to Margaret Davis and family.
On Tuesday, November 23, Lockington’s women played triples at their weekly social bowls.
The winning trio comprised of Katthi Maddison, Annie Haines and Annette Brereton (s).
That evening a round of sports night bowls was conducted, attracting 20 bowlers.
The game of three-bowl pairs was played with plenty of hidden talent shining through.
Lloyd Buchanan and Matt Stevens (s) were declared the winners on +22 shots ahead of Liam Davis and Dean Baulch (s) on +21.
Sports night bowls will continue on a Tuesday evening with a 7pm start; names to be listed prior to 6.45pm.
Several teams played in the Ladies’ Invitation Fours at Calivil on Thursday and returned home all the better for the experience.
On Friday, the weekly barbecue and practice session was well attended.
Kalvin Stout made a comeback and was rewarded with the lucky members’ draw.
The previous week, Dave Thomas scooped the jackpot pool.
