Last Thursday’s Jackpot Pairs was affected by other tournaments in the area; however, 24 bowlers took part in beautiful sunny weather.

Best one game went to Peter and “Chooka” Tinning with plus 12.
There were five two-game winners, starting with Frank Gumbleton and Cec Moss (+8), Dennis Ricketts and John Blair (+14), Pete and “Chooka” Tinning (+19), runners-up George Thornley and Jerome Shaw (+24) and runaway winners on the day, the Moama pairing Rob Young and Wayne Stephenson (+42).
The jackpot did not go off and is $340 tomorrow.
Members are reminded of the social dinner to be held at club sponsor the Pastoral Hotel on Tuesday, October 10 at 6pm. Names must be on the list by Monday next or to Di Payne on 0400 173 725.

Mini Bingo did not go off again last week and has been capped at $4000 until a lucky person selects all five numbers between 4pm and 6pm at happy hours on Friday nights.
Fran Spiers won the members’ draw last Friday night but was not present, so that jackpot is $100 this Friday night.

Rich River Bowls Club
Ladies Social Day winners: Lyn Barker, Virginia Noar and Barb Serle — one win and one draw, 11-up.
A great day had by all over two days in sunny weather for the men’s five-a-side, with 80 players in the field.
Winners: Kevin Brennan, Stan Barker, Jock Linehan, Rob Wastell and Jim Hogan.
Twenty-one players enjoyed a fun day at the footy-themed mixed socials, with much banter between rival AFL club supporters.
One bowler had trouble with his new bowls, after putting new discs on. Unfortunately, it took five bowls on the wrong bias before finding the discs were put on the wrong side.
Winners: John Hart and Joe Briffa — two wins and one draw — 50 pts, 17-up.
Second: Greame and Prill Edgar c/b — two wins and one draw — 50 pts, 8-up.
Coaching each Friday at 2pm, open to beginners and regular bowlers wishing to refine their skills.

The Ladies Championship Singles starts on Thursday, October 26 with the Men’s Championship Singles on Thursday, November 2.

Moama RSL
Twenty-five players played three games of nine ends. The winners on 46 points were Neil Hardy (Skip), Bev Healey (3rd), Pamela Kerr (2nd) and Dulcie Vanderdrift (Lead). Runners-up with 35 points were Carol Glass (Skip), Julie Van Lee (3rd), Carol O’Callaghan (2nd) and John James (Lead).
Third prize on 33 points were Jean Heales (Skip), Faye Healey (3rd), Sue Underwood (2nd) and Marie Harding (Lead).
60 and Over Bowls
The Campaspe 60 and Over Bowls Group held its Wednesday weekly bowls at Rochester on a cool but pleasant spring day.
A total of 28 teams consisting of 112 bowlers were all competing for a chook.
There were four three-game winners.
The runners-up were Ian Douglas’s team from Stanhope, they had three bowls near the jack within the metre stick.
The Stanhope team were lead D. Grant, G. Crilly second, J. Gibbs third and the skipper was I. Douglas.
The winners on the day were Brian Kirk’s team from Moama. They were another three-game winner, with three bowls near the jack, but closer.
They were John Ryan lead, Danny Matthews second, Brian Kirk third and Max Bennett was their skipper.
Members of both teams received a chook each.
The next 60 and Over Bowls is at Tongala on Wednesday, October 4, starting at 11am.
