The bowling was amazing with all members winning on the day. The regular Tuesday social bowls will be in force this week and starting at 10.15am. Good bowling for the year ladies.
All is in readiness for the Tom Davis “Special Social” two-bowl triples on Sunday. There is a capacity field and standing room only for the unveiling of the “Tommy's Bar” plaque at about 4pm.
The starting time for the bowls has been adjusted to 1.30pm to accommodate a group of 48 people from the Geelong Friendship tour arriving for lunch and refreshments.
Members are requested to assist in any way possible to entertain the group before they leave for Swan Hill. Contact Ray Hanson for details.
The club will be holding the prestigious autObarn Waterwheel Classic Fours on Sunday, October 23, starting at 9.30am.
This event is a Gold Letter tournament. Contact Russell Shawcross on 0428 862 468 or Ray Hanson on 0435 991865 for entries. Due to ongoing health issues, Chris Stewart will be reducing the heavy workload for a couple of months.
“Get well” wishes are offered to our Lady President Denise Gilmore who is recovering from a fractured foot. Given time, Denise will be up and about on the bowling green.
The Friday evening barbecue and practice sessions will start on Friday, September 30. All members are welcome.

Rich River
Rich River Bowls Club opening
Forty-nine members enjoyed a lunch and then moved onto the greens.
President Toni Beck opened the season and invited past presidents Rose Wheeler and Ron Luke to take the honour of opening the greens.
Wheeler rolled the jack and Luke rolled the first bowl before 44 members enjoyed the day’s bowls with reasonable weather.
Winners for the day were Trevor Nagorcka, Adrian Costello and Rita Moresco +20 , runners-up were Robert King, Wilma Williams and Ron Luke on +17.
Wednesday, August 31:
Men’s three-bowl pairs saw 24 players enjoy the greens and the nice weather.
Graeme Edger and Franco Perissinotto won the day being the only three-game winners with 78 points, second were Darren Curtis and Ron Ritchie on two games and 55 points, while in third was Roy Berryman and Ron Bentley on two games and 53 points.
With the jackpot at $50 and only requiring three of their four bowls within the meter stick, Graeme and Franco could not get their bowls in.
Tuesday, September 6:
Winners were Wilma Williams, Rose Wheeler and Prill Edgar on two wins and 20 shots up, while in second was Pam Hayes, Roseanne Sharp and Kerryn Sparks on two wins and 19 shots up.
Wednesday, September 7:
Twenty-four players took part in the men’s three-bowl pairs with the greens running well.
Trevor Nagorcka and Rob Thomas won with three games and 81 points, runners-up were Colin Hayes and John Hewlett with three games and 79 points. In third place was Jason McCloy and Roger Teasdale with 2.5 games and 61 points.
With the jackpot at $60 and only requiring three of their four bowls within the meter stick, Nagorcka and Thomas had one each within the meter stick but were unsuccessful with their last bowl, hence joining the boiled lollies club.
Next week’s jackpot goes to $70 and will only require three of the four bowls within the meter stick (minimum of 10 teams).
Wednesday, September 14 is men’s four-bowls (nominated teams and single entry), and will return to the old Jackpot Pairs format 2x2x2x2 for the next four weeks for a prelude to our coming pennant season.

September 30: Club mixed pairs entry sheets are up on the notice board for pairs and single-entry sheet as well.
60-and-over
The Campaspe Valley and District 60 and over bowls group held its Wednesday weekly bowls at Echuca Bowls Club on a warm day with a north-easterly wind.
Twenty-four teams — 96 players — competed for a chook. Five teams had won three games then rolled off to within the yard stick.
The team that came second was Lindsay Vallance’s from Mathoura, which had four bowls also within the yard stick.
They were Barry Ireland (lead) with Wayne Cowley (second), Lindsay Vallance (third) and Neil Dovaston (skip).
Ray Hanson’s team were the winners on the day from Lockington with four bowls also within the yard stick and the closest bowl to the jack.
The team of Andrew Harris (lead), Ray Hanson (second), Ian Johnson (third) and Kevin Humbert (skip) bowled well.
Members of both teams also received a chook.
Next Wednesday, September 14 , 60-and-over bowls is at Rochester Bowls Club with an 11am start.

Echuca
The rain last week saw the cancellation of Thursday Men’s Pairs and also the Joyce Thorn Ladies Pairs. The decision was made to protect the greens for the upcoming months.
Monday was cold but the intrepid bowlers were out competing. Winners were Paul Leach and Joan Armstrong with a big score and runners-up were John Blair and Mike Redapple.
Tuesday five-a-side was played in sunshine although the wind was from the east and was chilly. Winners were the Hurricanes team of Ivan Hicks, Mal Thorn, Kevin McAsey, Jacqui Millar and Ros Neil.
The ‘come and try’ program will run in October and then again in November. It is a free four-week introduction to lawn bowls for all ages and abilities.
