Twenty-eight teams consisting of 112 bowlers competed for a chook.
Because of the rain that came during the start of the third game, play was abandoned.
The two-game winners’ cards were fanned and the winner and runner-up cards were drawn from those cards.
A Mathoura team was runner-up.
They were B. Papworth (lead), P. Webber second, B. McMillan third and S. Limbrick (skipper).
The winners on the day were from Lockington.
The team was A. Kauffman lead, J. Fisher second, R. Shawcross third and D. Thomas (skipper).
Members of both teams received a chook each.
The next 60-and-over bowls is at Echuca Bowls Club on Wednesday, January 5, starting at 10am.
Entries to Eddie Smith over the phone at 5480 6600 or John Cowan at 0457 514 946, or alternatively on the sheet at the Echuca Bowls Club.

Congratulations to Steve Cunnington on winning the Club Singles Championship on Sunday evening by one shot from Ivan Hicks, after one of the most closely contested finals in a long time.
Played before a sizeable crowd in extremely windy conditions, both bowlers put in a superb performance.
Scores were tied 10-all after 11 ends and 20-all after 22 ends.
Cunnington picked up two shots on the next end, followed by a one and three to Hicks which gave him a two-shot lead (24 -22).
Cunnington drew two shots on the 27th end to tie the score at 24 each.
On the do-or-die last end, Cunnington drew two shots and Hicks had a final bowl where he played an upshot in an attempt to get the shot for the game, but only managed to dislodge one of Cunnington’s bowls, leaving Steve the winner of the championship by one shot.
Well done to both bowlers on a great exhibition in the most trying conditions.
Cunnington has now won four club championships with success in 2003-04, 2007-08 and 2011-12.
The Men’s B-grade Singles Championship was played between Albert Clark and Steve (Knockers) Nolan in the same extremely windy conditions.
After 15 ends, Clark led 14-9 but Nolan fought back to lead by five shots after 22 ends.
However, veteran Clark steadied to win five of the next seven ends to win 25-22.
Congratulations to both bowlers for a great game.
Following both games the club celebrated at the Christmas dinner attended by approximately 50 members. Well done to everyone who contributed to an excellent night.
Monday’s social bowls saw Di Payne (s), Gary Dettman and Noel McMaster successful with two wins. Gary and Noel are two bowlers from the club’s “come and try” sessions and it is great to see them among the winners.

Thursday’s Jackpot Pairs saw 44 bowlers competing, with the best one game going to Ian Parkinson and Geoff Tinning with plus 28.

Division 4a, team blue, was heated out after 29 ends while White defeated Rich River by one shot thanks to a seven-shot win by John Hollowood (s), Dennis Ricketts, Steve Nolan and Chris Campbell.

On Friday in the Midweek pennant, our women lost to Elmore with only one rink up.
On Saturday, our division three teams travelled to Deniliquin to do battle. Unfortunately, the heat reached the required temperature and the game was called off following 39 ends.
The division 4B side hosted Moama Green and was successful in winning 38-35 with one rink up and one down.
Pennant will resume in 2022 on January 14.
In the club championships, Ken Main was in superb form to eliminate Frank Chugg in a high-standard performance to reach the final.

In the championship women’s games, Sue Harris defeated Margaret Davis, while Phyllis MacFarlane defeated Pauline Humbert.
Lorraine Appleby will play Margaret Dowie and Harris will meet Leanne McInnes in one semi-final, while MacFarlane will play the winner of the Appleby and Dowie clash.

The Christmas hamper was drawn on Sunday morning and the prize winners were:
1st Trevor Oliver;
2nd David Dowie;
3rd Jenny Keele.
The club thanks everyone who purchased a ticket and supported the venture.

The Bendigo, Campaspe, Goldfields State Triples was completed on Sunday at the Strathfieldsaye Bowling Club. On a day that provided some atrocious weather conditions, all bowlers were very brave to complete the games; wind, sun, rain, showers — we had it all.
The Moama trio of Jayde Campbell, Kelli Norris, Cassandra Millerick (s) won its semi-final before failing in the final against the Bendigo East team skipped by Tayloh Marron 16-21. It was a very even contest before the Bendigo East team rallied after trailing 2-8 in the early stanza.
The Rich River team of Peter Nesbitt, Keith Hewitt and Jason McCloy (s) went down in the semi-final against the Bendigo East trio skipped by Greg Podesta 14-17.
The Lockington Bowls Club presidents and members extend season’s greetings to all sponsors and kindred club members.
