It was a perfect year for Echuca Moama’s women’s side in the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association, the squad claiming the title in the grand final on Saturday.

Echuca Moama’s road to the decider had been reasonably untroubled, the side logging a pristine 12-0 record in the regular season.
Strikers had consistently been the toughest test for the minor premier, being edged by just one goal in two of the sides’ three meetings, so it was no surprise to see them lining up against Echuca Moama in the final.
The two sides earned their way into the final in comprehensive fashion, Echuca Moama dishing out a 9-0 drubbing to Euroa, while Strikers followed suit, defeating Benalla 10-0.
The final was a typically tight affair between the two best squads in the league, and both teams had their opportunities.
As had been the case all season, it was Echuca Moama who got the best of the crucial moments taking the title in a tense affair 2-1.
League-leading scorer Courtney Thompson got her name on the scoresheet once again for Echuca Moama, while Makayla Pendelbury contributed the champions’ second goal.
Victoria Charlesworth managed the lone breakthrough for a beaten Strikers outfit.
