This weekend, 23 athletes will travel to Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne to compete in a total of 54 events.
The opportunity comes after the participants competed at the Northern Country Regional Championships in February.
There were a number of impressive individual performances at the event including Marlon Micalizzi who finished with four wins. His best performance came in the under-10 scissor kick where he jumped a huge 1.30 m.
Andrea Archibald was in her own fantastic form, running a 13.12sec in the 100 m sprint, breaking the previous NCR record of 13.51.
EMLAC president Stuart Addicott said the club was incredibly proud of what members had been able to achieve.
“The support shown to these athletes by their fellow competitors and the coaches Leah Smith, Chris Kadri and Phil Powderly is what has driven them to these heights as well as the introduction of training,” he said.
The performances of the athletes come off the back of a record season for EMLAC with the club having 201 members.
“Our numbers are a huge testament to the committee, athletes, and our sponsors to provide a culture kids want to be part of,” Addicott said.
Following the completion of the state championships, EMLAC will conclude its summer season with a family fun day on Saturday, March 20.
“This will be followed by awards presentations with the announcement of age champions, junior and senior champions, and the Riverine Herald Spirit of Sport award,” Addicott said.
“We would like to welcome all sponsors, parents, family and friends to come down for an enjoyable morning.”
EMLAC is also moving into the winter months with a cross-country season being held for the first time.
This will include various distances based on age, and different courses.
The season will run between April and May, and July to August with regional and state events throughout the season.
Competition is included in members’ current registrations, and new members are welcome.
The club is currently looking for expressions of interest and you can head to the Echuca Moama Little Athletics Centre Facebook page for information.
