ESC president Krystin Nagle expects the competition to be an exciting one, with the club primed for a big summer in the pool.
“At the moment we’ve got around 100 participants enrolled from everywhere in Victoria,” she said.
“This is just the start of our long course season. We’ll have meets around every second weekend.
“We’ve got targeted meets. You can go to a lot more throughout the season but we tend to target certain events just so we can get to it in Bendigo or Deniliquin, places like that.
“We’re off to Melbourne the week after our meet, so there’s a bit of travelling involved in swimming, but it’s a great sport and the kids are all a great group and a good community environment.”
The meet comes off the back of a successful swim club open day on September 23, with a number of prospective members joining ESC members in the pool.
“That was great,” Nagle said.
“We had five families approach us and come and watch what we do for our open day, as well as our regular swimmers.
“We held a training session for them and fun activities, so it all went really well.”
With current members ranging from ages seven to 14, Nagle said the club was always keen to welcome new swimmers who wanted to keep fit or swim socially, as well as competitive swimming for those interested.
“We’ve got 40 (members currently),” Nagle said.
“We’re just rebuilding at the moment after COVID. We’ve got a whole new committee in, so we’re just building a new club environment.”
