It was a clinical performance at the weekend by the Eagles, who were far too polished for Finley, claiming a comfortable 51-33 win at home.
Co-coach Kate Donehue was extremely pleased with the result, considering extenuating circumstances that meant the side that took to the court was not at full-strength.
“It was a solid win by our girls, especially with a few out due to sickness and holidays, and credit to Finley, they showed fight all day,” she said.
The win was a solid team performance, although Emily Cossar (wing attack) and Amy Sherlock (goal defence) were the two standout performers.
“Emily Cossar was brilliant for us in the way she fed into the goalies and the work she did up and down the court,” Donehue said.
“Amy Sherlock forced lots of errors in defence, the girls are really gelling as a group and enjoying their netball.”
The win, which comes after a big upset over Mulwala last week, is Echuca United’s ninth for the season, which sees it safely inside the top six, with two games to Congupna in seventh, while it also has a game in hand over Moama (9-5), who sit in fifth.
The Eagles will travel to Tocumwal next week to take on the Bloods, who have tasted victory just once this season.
