Echuca’s girls continued their strong run of form, avenging their round-three defeat by the Cats in a thrilling contest at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
The Murray Bombers launched out of the gate, piling up 12 goals in the first quarter while holding Mooroopna to four.
However, the Cats clawed back in the second frame, scoring nine goals to Echuca’s six to bring them within five at the half-time siren.
After a minor lull in the second quarter, Echuca regained the momentum in the third, bagging a whopping 15 goals, while Mooroopna tallied nine to bring their lead to 14 heading into the final term.
In a close final quarter, both teams managed to get it done on the offensive end. The Cats scored eight goals, while Echuca added 10 to its total to run away with it.
The final score was Echuca 43 to Mooroopna 29.
Player-coach Belinda Lees once again starred for her side, scoring 31 goals in the game, while young shooter Holly Chadwick added 12 of her own.
The Murray Bombers will return home to battle with competition leader Euroa in round 15, which will be a monumental test of strength for the girls in green.
