The 20-year-old, who was a core piece in the Pirates’ 2018-19 CBL North-West premiership, has been signed to play with the Bendigo Braves in the NBL One South competition.
Rosendale said he was happy to see reward for effort.
“It's always nice to see your hard work pay off,” he said.
“Especially during lockdown I've had the opportunity to work on my game, find new ways I can improve as a player and prepare myself for an opportunity.”
Rosendale had been in contact with the Braves and after a number of training sessions was given the opportunity to join the side.
“It was a great chance to further test myself against larger players as a smaller player,” he said.
“I've been lucky through Junior Big V with Kilsyth and CBL at home to play against bigger players and find ways to use my skills against bigger opponents.
“I went well in the sessions and was able to impress them enough to earn the opportunity.
“You always want to be playing the best quality of the game you can, so to get the chance to play in this league is something that really excites me.”
Rosendale, who has been one of the premier perimeter shooters in every league he has played, hopes to use his youth and skill to his team's advantage.
“We've had early discussions about what my role is likely to be,” he said.
“What I hope is, as a younger player, I can use my youth to my advantage and be something of a spark on the court.
“I've always prided myself on my shooting from deep. It's something I have worked very hard to develop as a skill, and I believe that being that option on the outside offers a lot to the team.”
Rosendale's former Echuca Pirates coach Leo Tenace said he was glad to see Rosendale's work pay off.
“Luke has worked so hard for this,” Tenace said.
“He gave up footy and devoted himself to basketball. He has the right temperament for it and he's got a wonderful shot.
“I think he's the best player to come out of our association. He was always going to make it.”
The Braves play their first home game at Bendigo Stadium on April 23 at 8pm against Frankston.
