“There’s only two girls left from that team that are playing this year,” said co-coach Misty Howard.
“So I think they’re nervous but excited, I think, would be the overriding feeling, probably more so than nervousness.
“They’re just super keen to get out there and have a crack.”
The Murray Bombers’ youngest side has carved out an impressive campaign this season, an early round-three defeat to Mooroopna the only mark on their otherwise spotless record.
Howard and co-coach Kristen Orr felt there was something special about the squad from the beginning.
“We’ve got a great group of girls and so from pre-season we were pretty confident that we were going to be successful,” Howard said.
“We were really lucky with who tried out and who joined the squad.”
Echuca’s grand final opponents will be Mansfield, who the Murray Bombers have defeated in three previous meetings this year, including two weeks ago in the second semi-final.
The squad is feeling confident given their track record against the Eagles, but isn’t taking them lightly in the biggest game of the year.
“As a unit, they’re probably one of the strongest defensive combinations in the league,” said Howard.
“We know we’ve got to really look after the ball in attack and make sure our drives are strong and our passes are spot on in order to make sure we beat those defenders.
“The other thing that we noticed about (Mansfield) is that they're not going to go away.
“In the qualifying final, they stuck with us for the whole game, so we need a four-quarter effort.”
The 15-and-under grand final between Echuca and Mansfield will kick off GVL grand final day at 8.30am on Sunday at Deakin Reserve in Shepparton.
