Earth, Wind and Fire had its fate in its own hands, needing to defeat the winless Troublemakers to secure the last remaining finals place.
Both sides were missing one of their regular players, but EWF was able to get the job done 7-4 and confirm its future in the competition.
Kyle Bartlett (filling in for Kevin Mao), Rob Russell and Harvey Griffiths, won both doubles matches, as well as prevailing in two of the three like vs. like (1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 etc.) singles.
The result mathematically eliminated Dragons, Old, Wise and Handsome, and The Riv, who were all hoping to leapfrog into fourth.
OWH battled an undermanned Riv in the final round, taking the game 7-4.
Jimmy Greenwood, Brendan Shingles and Issac Hope put in a clinical performance, winning the important rubbers to give themselves the best chance of a finals appearance, although they would ultimately fall short.
Dragons were in a similar position, but weren’t able to convert against the undefeated minor premier Loners.
Taking both doubles was key to Loners’ 7-4 win, Hank Doller, Phil Higgins and Nathan Mackrell the favourites for the title after defeating all seven other teams in the regular season.
The remaining match would have an impact on the positions of the four finalists, as DJB was able to overcome Billy Goats!.
Making use of multiple substitutes, DJB was able to do enough for a 6-5 win after scoring wins in both doubles matches.
The victory pushed Billy Goats! down to fourth place, giving them the tougher semi-final against Loners.
In the other semi, DJB will take on Earth, Wind and Fire.
Final ladder
