Chelsea played Tottenham in a top of the table clash last week, with Chelsea already locked in for a place in the qualifying final.
Tottenham needed a win to also secure their spot.
The match didn’t start off well for Tottenham.
A brilliant side kick from Mathew Crothers was placed perfectly for Mark Plant to tap in the first goal for Chelsea.
What followed was a low-scoring affair, with the half time score 3-2 in Chelsea’s favour.
Chelsea then scored again early to take a two goal advantage.
A late charge from Masen Brain saw Tottenham take the team from two goals down to two goal in front.
It was 6-5 Tottenham’s way with two minutes to go.
They managed to hold off numerous attacks from Chelsea to secure the win and a spot in the qualifying final.
Tottenham 6 def Chelsea 5
Newcastle took on Arsenal in another low-scoring game.
Newcastle had several shots at goal that bounced off the uprights and cross bar.
Unfortunately for them, luck was just not going their way.
A highlight of the match was when a sideline cross from Arsenal’s Roché Du Toit found Owen Macartney, who volleyed the ball into the net.
It was exciting to watch.
Roché not only set up her teammates, but also scored her first goal of the season in this match.
Arsenal 9 def Newcastle 2.
The first week of finals is this Thursday.
It will be a rematch of this week’s games, with the fixtures as follows:
Qualifier - Tottenham vs Chelsea
Eliminator - Arsenal vs Newcastle.
