With one game left, the duo timed their run to perfection, needing a win in the final round to hunt down competition leaders Jeremy Henry and Aaron Teys.
A win was what they got, toppling James Whitehead and Matt Ellul to finish atop the standings with 14 points and 78 shots up.
Matt Flapper and Peter Loe ended in second, while Henry and Teys rounded out the top three after Wednesday’s final day of play.
Cameron Keenan finished as the top-ranked local competitor, ending the tournament in seventh place, just two points behind Podesta and Marron, playing alongside Ryan Bester.
The annual competition saw 96 bowlers converge on Moama to compete for the substantial cash prize and welcomed some of Australian bowls’ biggest names.
