The three leagues did battle at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve, with teams in under-13, under-14, under-15 and under-16 divisions featuring the best junior football talent the area has to offer.
It was the Goulburn Murray Junior League that romped to the title, with all four of its teams going undefeated in a supreme display of football.
Echuca, Leitchville-Gunbower and Kyabram were all well represented in the title-winning squad, even producing some best-on-ground performances.
Echuca’s Lynkoln Richardson was judged GMJL’s best player in the under-13 clash against the MFL, as his side prevailed 5.8 (38) to 2.4 (16).
Fellow Murray Bomber Kristian Fitzsimmons was best afield in the under-15 clash against the MFL, as GMJL claimed a comprehensive 12.10 (82) to 0.0 (0) victory.
In the under-16s, Echuca’s Alexander Donchi slotted a goal and was named best-on-ground against the BJFL side in the 4.8 (32) to 3.1 (19) win, while Leitchville-Gunbower’s Darby Jones scooped the honour against the MFL as GMJL ran out a 9.3 (57) to 0.0 (0) winner.
The MFL won three matches for the day, all over the BJFL, with Moama’s Fred Peat earning best-on-ground honours in the 10.4 (64) to 4.3 (27) win in the under-14 division.
