The combined team flexed its muscle against Shepparton Lawn Tropics on Saturday, earning a commanding 12-96 to 0-46 victory – its fourth win of the new campaign.
It was a fantastic display of tennis from Kyabram-Echuca, who claimed a clean sweep over the Tropics after winning all 12 sets.
Phillipa Bush was the biggest winner on Saturday at Echuca Lawn Tennis Club, earning a 8-0 victory in her women’s singles rubber.
The combo side has established itself as the side in the competition so far, after winning all four of its clashes and all in emphatic fashion.
Ky-Echuca has dropped just two sets all season, winning 46 of the 48 rubbers played.
However, the Numurkah Warriors are also in fine form to start the season, and their big win over Shepparton Lawn The Valley has them hot on Ky-Echuca’s heels.
Numarkah was too strong for the Valley on Saturday, turning in a 10-92 to 2-50 victory.
Warriors Nick Fenaughty and Jack Bassett had an 8-0 love win in the men’s doubles, while their teammates Grant Chappell and Maggie Snowdon earned the same result in the mixed doubles.
In a positive for The Valley, they claimed both the women’s singles rubbers thanks to victories by Darcy Curtis-Mcdonald and Hope Curtis-McDonald.
Numurkah’s win, also their fourth of the season, has them just behind Ky-Echuca on the ladder.
Like the combo side, the Warriors have been commanding on the court, winning 41 of their 46 sets played.
The two sides were meant to face off last month, but they will have to wait until next year for their first meeting after the round five clash was washed out.
In the weekend’s other match, the Velvet Tigers topped Shepparton Lawn Average Joes 8-75 to 4-64.
Ky-Echuca and Numurkah are the competition’s two undefeated sides, with the Velvet Tigers and Lawn Tropics sitting at 2-2.
The Valley and Average Joes (0-4) are yet to win a match this season.
