While draws are yet to be finalised, the league has confirmed things will be getting under way in October, with McMahon A-grade Shield action starting on October 5, B-grade on October 12, the women’s competition on October 13, and C- and D-grades to begin on October 19.

After a competitive season, Echuca got its hands on the McMahon Shield for the third straight time in 2023-24, prevailing in a nail-biting grand final with Moama by just 12 runs.
Echuca showcased its superior squad depth over the year, and while it didn’t have any standouts when it came to overall league tallies, five players scored more than 300 runs for the champions, while four took upwards of 20 wickets.

Moama will be looking to go one better in 2024-25 after falling just short with a team boasting threatening batsmen like Fraser Buchanan (548 runs), skilful all-rounders like Anthony McMahon (591 runs, 20 wickets), and devastating wicket takers like coach Michael Hill (33 wickets).
Semi-finalists Bamawm-Lockington United and Echuca South will have their own aspirations in the new year, with Zimbabwean international and reigning Graham Turner medallist Regis Chakabva again to prove pivotal to BLU’s chances, while last year’s champion player Asantha Singappuli has re-upped with the Swans and will provide threat with both bat and ball.

In the women’s competition, Echuca Green defied unbeaten Mooroopna in the grand final to claim the title by nine wickets and will now become the hunted in the new season.
