The Gunbower Pacing Cup returns this Sunday, December 10, for the event’s first running at its home track in two years, run at Echuca last year due to the floods.
But this year, the popular race day is returning to Gunbower Harness Racing Club.
A strong crowd will be in for the nine-race card, which the Gunbower Family Hotel Pacing Cup will headline.
The on-course action begins at 1.14pm, and the feature race will be run at 5.19pm, while the weather gods are tipping a high of 29 degrees.
Entry for the day is free, with various kids’ activities and food options shaping a family-friendly event, including pony trots, a $1000 raffle and bookies.
But one of the more important elements of the day’s racing will be visible in the form of tributes for Elaine Brereton.
The Gunbower Harness Racing Club life member passed away recently, and her hard work and dedication to the organisation will be the day raced in her honour.
It will be an exciting lead into 2024 for the famed country harness racing club, which turns 100 years old. Celebrations will include a special book, raffles, and guest dinner on February 18.
