Instead, the club has been gearing up to host the 2023 Victorian State Solo Title on Saturday, November 25, at Undera Park Speedway.
The event is set to be a spectacle of speed and skill with a full card of racers, including returning riders from the European circuit, who’ll compete in the 500cc, 250cc and 125cc solo categories.
Regardless of the day’s results club president Rob Palma said securing the competition was already a major win for the club.
“After successfully locking in the Victorian title, we hope to get the national title in 2025,” Palma said.
“To get there we need to be successful with these race meets to afford it.”
Like many sporting groups GV Motorcycle Club was not financially immune to the pandemic.
“COVID-19 and Undera didn’t have a good friendship,” Palma said.
“We built ourselves up out of the ashes over the last 16 months, raising funds through events.
“Then the floods came and damaged the track, had to redo that and started to build a new track – the North-Phillips flat track.”
North-Phillips will be the first flat track in the Goulburn Valley, ushering in a new era of racing and, hopefully, a new generation.
“We need to get younger kids and families out to Undera to secure our future,” Palma said.
“We need young people to get engaged and we’re doing what we can to get them engaged.”
