Both the Murray Bombers and the Demons are 7-2 so far this season, with both sides sitting inside the top four.
Echuca will be looking to bounce back from a 22-goal loss to Mooroopna last week, but will face a stern challenge in United.
A win for either side would be key in the race for top spot, while defeat would see the loser fall behind the top pack.
Seymour, 8-1, sit in top spot on the GVL ladder, with Mooroopna, Echuca, United and Euroa all right behind them at 7-2.
With the Lions, Cats and Magpies all having winnable games on the weekend, a loss for Echuca or United could prove costly.
Meanwhile, Echuca has been the standout side on the football field in the GVL this season and it will be out to continue its stellar form when it takes on United this Saturday.
The top-spot Murray Bombers will be highly fancied heading into the clash against a Demons side that has won just one game so far this season, but will no doubt be out to impress.
Echuca has gotten off to slow starts in their previous two games, trailing to Rochester at quarter time and Mooroopna at half time the last two weeks.
But strong second-half performances have seen the Murray Bombers kick away to win by comfortable margins and move into sole possession of first place on the ladder.
Echuca coach Simon Maddox said his side would be bolstered this weekend by the return of Kane Morris and Daniel Willis to the line up, while Logan Prout and Marty Hore — who has been playing for North Melbourne’s VFL side — could also feature.
The Demons meanwhile have lost three consecutive games, and head into this Saturday’s clash off the back of a 43-point loss to Tatura.
