Hold tight - we’re checking permissions before loading more content
It was an exciting time to be playing footy against another team from the same club this week especially when they are your friends. Moama Red faced up against Moama White and it proved to be a tight contest between the two home teams.
Once again heavily supported by our faithful volunteers and sideline supporters, Moama Red started the game with fire in their bellies, keen to win every contest and then finding their teammates and going for goal. The first quarter resulted in one goal and two points.
At quarter-time, Moama Red listened intently to the wise words of their coach Rhys, who advised the players to kick long. With this advice on board, Moama Red took the next two quarters by storm kicking two goals and several points, striving to hit the lead.
Clinton McKee played an instrumental role allowing the team to harness several goals during the first three quarters. This was a result of his superior marking throughout the game.
Judd Morgan also played an impressive game, possibly the best for him this season so far. With marks taken in the centre, he intently looked for available players to kick to, ultimately resulting in a goal.
Judd, Ted Palmer and Connor Richardson also contributed, becoming the night’s top goal kickers. Great defence skills from Lincoln Cleathero, Heath Clark and Brandt Haw kept the opposition’s score to a minimum.
Solid performances throughout the game from Henry Mathers, Judd Morgan, Clinton McKee and Darius Keam earned these players awards for the night. Congratulations on a great night of football from both teams who are also to be commended on their superior level of sportsmanship.

Under-12 vs Rochester Tigers
This week the team travelled to Rochester to verse the Rochy Tigers. It was a stunning, sunny morning as the team did their best to be triumphant in winning the game.
The first quarter saw Kaiden Peace mark the ball within the first minute of play. Chayce Green got the ball moving with an enormous kick down the field.
Special mention to Xavier Mai as he fearlessly tackled the Tigers throughout the first quarter. Tommy Dohnt kicked a point this quarter, as did William Atkinson.
The second quarter got under way with a goal kicked by Atkinson and another by Darcy Leah. A shout out goes to Kaiden Peace and Dohnt for their persistence and pressure and key interceptions.
The third quarter saw some strong defence by Dohnt and Xavier Phillips. Our captain Ted Limbrick kicked the ball out and performed well all quarter. Ryan McRae took a mark and got the ball moving towards Moama’s goals.
The game finished with a miraculous mark by Mai and a point kicked by Xavier Phillips. Rochy kicked a goal very quickly this quarter and were fast and strong all quarter. The Moama team was hot on their tail throughout the quarter and showed grit and determination by not giving up.
Well done to all the players, parents, supporters and volunteers.

Under-10 Green vs Echuca Bombers
Our Friday night game saw the promotion of the current team managers of both sides as they stepped in to coach their respective teams.
We need to acknowledge and thank Echuca Bombers for loaning us a super star player each quarter to even out numbers and fill the gaps of our missing players.
We started strongly with an impressive goal from Alfie Lloyd from the centre bounce. Our captain for the week Jesse Watson was pivotal in the defensive end, working hard to stop the ball and kick it forward.
We welcomed a new player to our team this week, Joseph Fox, who was set the challenge of kicking a goal in the final quarter. What a moment it was when he succeeded, resulting in the entire team gathering around him to celebrate.
It was an exciting game to watch and you would be forgiven for thinking you were in fact at a disco; the way Thomas Schroeter embraced his speed and danced around many opponents on more than one occasion was simply entertaining and exciting to witness. A great hit out was had and we take away many positives and some future goals to work towards.

Under-10 White vs Moama Black
Echuca White travelled interstate to take on Moama Black on Sunday morning in perfect conditions. Our captain for the day Ged Canham won the toss and elected to kick towards Perricoota Rd.
After a final rev up from coach Tim, Echuca hit the ball hard and let Moama know they were in for a hard-fought game from the get go. Tom Reynolds found the goals early. After some hard hitting tackles coming from Moama’s mid-fielders and some aerial ping-pong, Echuca took hold of the first quarter and kicked truly with quick goals coming from Seth, Ollie and Tom to finish the first quarter.
After a quick drink and a shuffle of the board, the players were straight back into battle. Moama came out to atone a slow start with a few quick goals to start the second quarter. Echuca put a stop to the Moama attack with Tom kicking a miraculous goal from the boundary line.
At half-time coach Tim told the players to not get complacent, to attack the ball and look for a teammate once we have control. Jaxon Key asked his teammates to think about the way St Kilda has been playing and to try and play like them.
It was like Jaxon had switched the light on for his team with Ned, Blake, Nugget and Kai all playing a top brand of football. Jordan, Harry and Nate were repelling all of Moama’s forward attack, while Harrison was giving first use of the ball to his on-ballers with his great ruck work.
At three-quarter time Echuca had earned a quick drink and a couple of red frogs with Tim urging his players to play out the full four quarters. Echuca responded to their coach with two quick goals. Jett, Jack and Riley combined well out of defence to set up another forward attack. Echuca continued to pressure Moama and force turnovers, playing out a complete four quarters of quality football.

Under-12 Bombers vs Echuca Green
After some slow starts so far this season, the team was keen for a strong early effort, and they certainly got it with Nate Murphy snaring two early goals among some quality individual efforts.
Sam McCleary had some good runs to keep the pressure on. Some other excellent early contributors were Joey who effected a tough smother, Ducky who took some terrific marks across half-back, and Arli was just warming up.
Arli Walker put on an absolute clinic in the second quarter. He was outstanding, collecting too many kicks to count, and kicked a couple of amazing goals, one particularly incredible snap over his right shoulder from the boundary. Kai and Levi were excellent in getting the ball inside 50, and Gus was hitting the scoreboard too.
Jagger was playing a top shelf game across half-back and was able to turn the ball over through some ferocious tackling, then some high skilled passing to send us into attack again.
Swiggsy was getting lots of the ball and took a great intercept mark. Two guys who played really tough defensive games were Tom Cooke and Harry Dunham. They were hard at the ball and held Echuca Green to account.
Grace Napier led out to a lovely pass like a young Jason Dunstall, and took a classic forwards mark, then selflessly hand-balled off for a shot on goal. Jobe Williams took a great mark and had a shot on goal.
Curtis Carne slotted into the team seamlessly and did some excellent kicking around the field. Our rucks, Taj Maddox and Charlie Flanigan, are getting better and better each week, and working so hard all around the ground for the team.
Special mention to Jed Dullard who crashed into the packs, but also on one occasion, chased a loose ball, rode the bump of his opponent, hand-balled off, then ran to shepherd all in the one play. Fabulous effort. And Immy Rickard keeps working terrifically hard up forward to make a contest.
Great coaching again from Dan and Mark, and a huge thank you to our umpires, runners, helpers, and supporters.

Under-13 Bombers vs Shepp Notre Gold
Round four saw Echuca Bombers take on Shepp Notre-Gold in Shepparton. Oliver kicked the first point for the day and Macklan kicked the first goal.
Mitch was a live target, kicking a goal. Charlie made good in defence and Archie held his position well through the whole game. Mack picked up a few good marks.
Echuca made Shepp work hard to get the ball through the whole match.
There was some great tackling by Eden in the second quarter. In the third and fourth quarter Echuca got some good shepherds in, making it tough for Shepp.
Charlie kicked the first point for the last quarter. Both teams put up some great contests in the last half. Echuca made it hard work but unfortunately Shepp took home the win.

Under-15 vs St Augustine’s
Blue skies kicked off the third-round clash against St Augustine’s at Northern Oval, Kyabram.
St Augustine’s started well stopping Echuca’s drive at the half forward line in the first half of the quarter. However, Echuca persisted to share the ball and eventually penetrated into their forward line resulting in scores on the board. Some good ball work by Kervin and Walker, with McFarlane moving the ball down the ground and Bertie assisting Fitzsimmons a straight shot for goal.
With a bit of advice from the coach, Echuca upped their game leading Walks to get the Bombers second goal and O’Brien slotting in another. With injuries trying to shutter the team, their spirit helped them push. Direct, long kicking through the centre by Canham, Kervin and Fitzsimmons resulted in Smith and Kenna scoring through the big sticks. A quick burst out of the centre with a long kick by Walks scored a major.
After a taxing second quarter of minor injuries the Bombers were five goals up. Though still a tussle, Echuca’s defensive half, which included Carr, Irwin and Addicot, kept St Augustine’s to a single goal.
St Augustine’s came out determined to turn the game in the second half, scoring a few unanswered goals. Oellermann wasn’t satisfied with just scoring a point so he pushed to get Echuca’s first goal of the quarter.
Some gritty play from Griffiths, McPherson and Oliver forcing the ball forward allowed Fitzsimmons and McFarlane to score back-to-back goals, ensuring the lead at the end of the quarter.
The run home started off with some good ball movement from the opposition but Echuca’s defence acted quickly, limiting them to a point and then directing the ball down the field.
After going back and forth in the middle the ball ended up in the hands of Osaka McFarlane who at that time happened to be in a direct shot for goal and he seized the opportunity and kicked it.
The team song rang from the clubrooms after the first win of the season.
Final score: Echuca 13.14 (92) def St Augustine’s 6.7 (43)
Best players- Kristian Fitzsimmons, Jett Kervin, Oska MacFarlane, Finn McPherson, Luke Oellermann, Cody Walker.
