After a fifth-placed finish and a blistering run to the Picola District League finals last year, going one better is the clear goal for coach Aimee Sidebottom’s Katunga side this year.
The Swans, despite injuries, found themselves well and truly in the mix in September, eventually bundled out by Katamatite in a narrow semi-final loss.
“We were very unfortunate with injuries last year and did well considering,” Sidebottom said.
“Obviously we’ll be hoping we can make it through a full season with no upsets.”
The Swans went down narrowly to the competition’s top three sides last season, and managed to record a sizzling 33-31 win over eventual champions Tungamah in round eight.
Katunga remains a force to be reckoned with. And with a full-strength side, PDL followers can expect the Swans to mount a serious flag challenge this year.
