Moama faces an intriguing trip to Deniliquin where it will face Deni Rams at Hardinge Street Oval.
Due to Ladies Day festivities, all netball games are starting 30 minutes earlier and football games an hour later.
This moves the A-grade netball start time to 1pm and the senior football to 3pm.
Although Moama’s senior football side holds a six-point and four-place advantage over the Rams, Deni currently holds the mental edge, having beaten the Magpies by 47 points in Moama in round three.
It was by far Moama’s biggest loss of the season, having gone down by less than a goal in its other two losses this year.
Round three was a long time ago and the Magpies will be looking to take this game on its merits and keep a crowded pack of chasers at bay.
While Congupna, currently on 48 points, is almost certain to claim the minor premiership, the race for second spot is highly contested.
Moama and Finley (38) hold the edge, but Mulwala, Cobram and Deni (all on 32) are well within striking distance should the Magpies or Cats slip up.
The Mowers’ netball side (11-2) finds itself in a similar position, looking to hold on to second spot against the trio of Tongala, Finley and Saturday’s opponent, the Rams (9-4).
Moama grabbed a five-goal win in the side’s round-three meeting, as Deni started slowly in 2024 after two consecutive undefeated regular seasons.
• Tongala will visit Numurkah Showgrounds in the battle of the Blues, Tonny hoping to string together consecutive wins after its first win in seven last weekend.
Billy Barnes’ men had a 40-point win when the sides met in round three, but Numurkah have had the better of 2024 since.
Numurkah has a number of high-profile scalps to its name recently, including wins over Mulwala and Deniliquin and a draw with Moama.
Meanwhile, Tonny endured a disappointing mid-season and is likely out of the finals race, three games off the pace with five rounds remaining.
With a favourable upcoming fixture list, Tongala could finish its year on a high and at least make the finals sides look over their shoulders at the back-end of the year.
Tonny’s A-grade netball side should have an easier time on the weekend, sitting in second on the table, and facing off with an 11th-placed Numurkah side.
Tongala has a relatively straightforward run for the next three rounds before important battles with Deniliquin and Rumbalara in the final two rounds.
• After coming within minutes of a maiden win last week, Echuca United’s senior football side hosts Cobram at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
The Eagles had their best performance of the season, pushing the Blues to the final siren, ultimately falling short by just two points.
Cobram has proved itself a finals side, and United will need to recapture that same form to push the Tigers in a similar manner.
The Eagles’ A-grade netball side has been building a resume of competitive performances recently and should be well in the contest against Cobram.
The two sides drew back in round three, but United will hope a strengthened line-up since that game will be able to break the deadlock and earn a third win in 2024.
