The Magpies made the trip across to face the Bloods on the back of a stirring three-goal victory over Echuca United last week, which ended the Eagles’ seven-game unbeaten run.
Coming up against a winless Tocumwal, the Pies did exactly what was expected of them, cruising to a 35-goal win.
“It’s another great percentage win,” Moama coach Jodie Lake said.
“Although we had a slow start, we really turned it around and put the foot down in the second quarter.”
There is a lot to like about the next generation of A-grade stars coming through at Moama, who seem to be consistently rising to the challenge and pressures at the senior level this season.
“It was really pleasing to see our young ones step up to the task, such as Eden Drennan and Sienna Agg in goals against a strong Tocumwal defence,” Lake said, while also nominating Alex Daly as the best player on the court.
“Alex Daly put in a stellar best on performance with countless turnovers in wing defence.”
Moama finds itself in an interesting position on the ladder, having now won seven games from the 11 it has played to sit fifth.
With the win yesterday, the Magpies have remained level on wins with Rumbalara, who jumped up to fourth, while climbing over Echuca United, also with seven wins, after they fell to the undefeated Deniliquin.
The Pies will play Numurkah next week, again on the road, with the Blues (4-7) sitting in eighth spot on the ladder.
After an inconsistent start to the season, the Magpies seem to have found form, and are quietly shaping as a finals threat as the competition progresses.
