Moama kept its unbeaten run intact with a convincing win over Echuca on Wednesday morning.
Marilyn Stephenson’s rink was the biggest winner in the round four clash, prevailing 21-8, while top-rated competition skip Rob Wastell kept his record clean with a 12-shot victory over Steve Cunnington.
The Ian Page-skipped Echuca rink pulled back a 19-all draw to ensure the club walked away with a point.
The Steamers hold a 4-0 win-loss record.
Meanwhile, Deniliquin notched back-to-back wins after a 32-shot victory over Rochester.
Mark Quor (24-11), Stephen O’Brien (21-11) and Conway Bovell (19-10) delivered full points for Deni and a second win of the season, though they remain in fifth.
At Mathoura Bowling Club, the home side ensured it stayed third with a 16-shot victory over Rich River.
Mathoura got all rinks up courtesy of a 10-shot win to Peter Pangrazio’s quartet, while Beryl Murray was a 23-19 victor against Barry Brown.
Rich River’s Liz Easther pushed Jason McCloy, but the latter came away with a two-shot win.
Division two
Moama remains unbeaten from four rounds, but the Steamers weathered a fierce challenge from Deniliquin RSL.
Deni came within a shot of knocking off the high-flying Moama, with RSL getting two rinks up courtesy of skips Linda Harris (25-18) and Tony Tonta (19-12).
The Steamers rink of Sandra Connolly (skip), Kevin Connolly (third), Kelly Norris (second) and Judy Eastwell (lead) overcame Jenny Tonta’s rink 24-9 to claim a thrilling contest.
In the only other contest for the round, Stanhope was a 33-shot winner over Rich River, while Echuca had the round four bye.
Rochester received a forfeit from Kyvalley View.
Division three
Ladder leader Deniliquin RSL continued on its merry way in round four, toppling Moama by five shots thanks to a 19-13 win to Bruce Ferry.
Despite Peggy Bell earning a one-shot rink triumph for Moama, the Steamers settled for the two points as RSL kept its unbeaten run intact.
Echuca notched a 15-shot win over Rochester, with Jill Young as the sole rink winner, while Tongala Red and Yellow picked up wins.
Meanwhile, Deniliquin earned a 15-shot victory over Mathoura.
