After losing its first two matches in 2025, Moama has course corrected of late, getting on the board against Echuca United in round three and now putting Finley to the sword in round four.
You’d think the Magpies were unbeaten this season with the way they played in the opening quarter, delivering a staggering 18 goals to essentially bury the Cats from the jump.
Finley managed to find its feet in the second quarter, more than doubling its opening period score, but it didn’t matter as Moama continued to show why it came so tantalisingly close to a flag last season.
The Magpies didn’t dwell on their 14-goal half-time lead, but kept it steady, bagging 12 more goals while locking down on defence, conceding six to enter the final stretch up by 20.
Moama didn’t give the Cats any opportunity to come back into the contest, with the visitors finding the net just eight more times in the match, finishing with 30 for their efforts.
Meanwhile, the hosts wanted to see how far it could push things and push they did as the attack combined for a 14-goal final frame performance to finish its day with 56.
The 26-goal win is easily the Magpies’ most dominant showing this season and points to how dangerous they can be when all things are firing simultaneously.
With the likes of Rumbalara and Nathalia in the rearview mirror for now, Moama will be delighted to travel to Tongala to face its long-standing rival, which has one win for the season.
