Lexie Howard (13), Clodagh Jeffreys (15), and Chase Larkin (13), all from Moama, tested their skills against the best junior wakeboarders in the country.
Lexie placed third overall in the under-14 girls’ division, including a second place during day two’s events.
Tim Mills is an Australian accredited coach and chief judge for Wakeboard Victoria and Wakeboard Australia.
He has been working with the three Moama prospects for about two years and has good things to say about all three riders.
“Lexie’s probably one of the most stylish young riders that we’ve got in our club,” he said.
“She is going to improve very quickly over the next 12 months and she’s going to be one of the girls to watch in the future.”
Clodagh competed in the junior pro women’s division, placing fourth overall and second on day two.
“Clodagh has been training very hard to improve her riding,” Mills said.
“She has travelled all over Australia this season and competed in nearly every state.”
“She is a very up-and-coming rider for her age and she’s very determined.”
Chase competed in the under-14 boys’ division, managing fourth overall and third on day two.
“(Chase’s) whole family has put in to help Chase improve his riding,” Mills said.
“They have been travelling around and doing as many competitions as possible to gain more experience.”
“He rides very aggressively and takes every trick as big as he can, which the judges like to see.”
Wakeboarding will come to Deniliquin on February 17-18, with round four of the state series and the Victorian state titles to be hosted by the Deniliquin Ski Club.
“It’s a great venue to watch the sport and it’s going to be a very exciting weekend,” Mills said.
“Anyone is welcome to come along and have a look and see what all the hype is about.”
