With only one game remaining against a similarly impressive Cobram side who went 15-1 this year, can Moama complete the perfect season?
The match-up is set to be a battle of netball philosophies, as both teams have been unstoppable on opposing ends of the court.
The Magpies were named by the league as the number one goal-scoring side this year, and Cobram was named the best defensive team.
It will be a matter of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.
Moama has had an unorthodox lead-up to the big dance.
They were set to face Numurkah in the final round of the season, but the Blues didn’t field a team. They bypassed the first week of finals due to finishing in the top two, and they were victorious against Cobram in the second semi-final, going through to the grand final.
But despite only playing one game of netball in the last month, coach Carri Carter said that she is doing everything she can to keep her players in top shape for the big dance.
“In the last month, they’ve played one actual game of netball, but we have been consistently doing practice games with the other grades to keep them at a high level,” she said.
“They’re back up and about this week and are keen to get out on the court again.”
Coach Carter emphasised that due to their unbeaten record and 16-goal victory over Cobram in the second semi-final, all the pressure would be on Moama to succeed.
Yet, she assured her girls that she’d be there every step of the way, reminding the girls to play their own game.
“They’re the ones that are sitting undefeated this season, so hopefully the pressure doesn’t get to them, but I’ll be talking them through it,” she said.
“I’ll be reminding them to slow it down, play their brand of netball and keep it short and sharp.
“If we follow our style of play and stick to our game plan, we should be able to win.”
The under-17s grand final will be held at Moama Recreation Reserve Court 1 on Saturday, September 21. Centre pass is scheduled for 9.30am.
