Born in Echuca, Eddy moved to Europe at the start of the 2022 season, joining the dsm-firmenich development program, where he has raced for the past two years.
Having had a taste of the top level, racing in multiple top-tier events this season, Eddy is excited to be a part of the WorldTour level squad full-time from next year.
“It was a big transition for me coming to race in Europe for the first time last season,” he said.
“But the environment in the development program has really helped me improve on my weaknesses and build on my strengths.
“I’ve already been lucky enough to do some races with the men’s program, and it’s been great to learn from the older guys.
“I know already that this is the best environment for me to continue to grow as a rider. The team has a great mix of experienced professionals and talented young guys who are all equally motivated for success.
“I’m excited to be part of this group and continue to build something special over the next few years.”
Eddy looks set to play an important role for the Dutch squad next season in the world’s top-level cycling tour, with his turn of speed making him an ideal candidate to be the lead-out man for six-time Grand Tour stage winner and 2022 European champion Fabio Jakobsen.
Eddy, who turned 21 this week, has enjoyed a fantastic 2023 season, recording a top-10 finish in the ZLM Tour prologue against WorldTour opposition in the Netherlands, as well as claiming a top three in a sprint finish at the Fleche du Sud in Luxembourg.
He was also a member of the Australian team at the UCI World Road Cycling Championships in Glasgow, as one of five under-23 representatives in the road race.
Prior to making the move to Europe, Eddy dominated the junior scene in Australia, claiming both the junior road race and time trial national titles in 2019, before backing the results up with a second consecutive time trial title in 2020 and a second place in the road race.
Eddy will race alongside fellow Australians Alex Edmondson, Chris Hamilton and Matthew Dinham next year, with dsm-firmenich entrenched on the WorldTour until at the least the end of 2025 when the UCI points cycle resets.
