Finishing up on September 10, this year’s Picola and District Football Netball League campaign ended almost a month ago.
However, following the analysis of the Murray League season in last week’s Courier, it is only right we take a brief look at how the local clubs went this season, and share some of our favourite photos to go with it.

Summary:
There were plenty of positive signs at Tigerland across the 2022 campaign, with football and netball sides performing well across all age-groups.
Outgoing senior football coach Jedd Wright led his chargers to a sixth-place finish, with a nail-biting semi-final loss to Strathmerton seeing the club miss out on a chance at a premiership.
On the netball courts, the Tigers’ A-grade side went one step further than their football counterparts, losing to Tungamah in the preliminary final.
Playing in the post-season alongside the A-grade team was the B-grade, C-grade and C-Reserve sides, showing that the senior netball depth is solid at Katamatite.

Summary:
One of the league’s most dominant clubs in recent years, Strathmerton’s football and netball teams came close to going all the way this year.
On the netball courts, Olivia Osborne’s A-graders suffered a heartbreaking grand final defeat to Tungamah.
While the Bulldogs managed to secure a minor premiership, a grand final loss is sure to light a spark for season 2023, with the Bears edging out the team on the day.
On the football field the Bulldogs also suffered defeat to Tungamah, with the Bears knocking Strathmerton out of the senior premiership race in the preliminary final.
Meanwhile the club’s reserves sides took out the premiership and the under-17s and 14s made the preliminary finals.

Reserves — 4th (11-4) — Preliminary final
Under-17s — 10th (6-10)
Under-14s — 3rd (14-2) — Grand final
Netball

B-grade — 11th (5-11)
C-Grade — 11th (5-11)
C-Reserve — 9th (7-9)
17-and-under — 6th (10-5) - Semi final
15-and-under — 9th (7-8)
13-and-under — 13th (3-12)
Summary:
A re-building year for Tocumwal, the Bloods did not see a great deal of success on the football or netball courts this year.
On the football field an impressive under-14 premiership was the highlight for the club, while a 17-and-under semi-final appearance in the netball and an A-grade finals berth provided plenty of exciting finals action.
Yarroweyah
Football
Reserves — 13th (2-13)
Under-17s — 15th (0-16)
Under-14s — 11th (5-10)
Netball
B-grade — 7th (7-9) — Elimination final
C-Grade — 13th (2-13)
C-Reserve — 15th (0-16)
17-and-under — 14th (1-15)
15-and-under — 15th (0-16)
13-and-under — 9th (6-10)
Summary:
A tricky year for the Hoppers, Yarroweyah fielded neither a senior football nor A-grade netball team in 2022.
However, the side produced plenty of admiral performances in the other grades, with a B-grade finals appearance particularly exciting.
Set to come back bigger and better next year, the Hoppers will be hoping to increase playing numbers and get back to winning ways.
