The Magpies claimed a 19-point win against Echuca United in the Murray Football League, as the club executed its second consecutive clean sweep of all grades of football and netball for the year.
United led the clash by a goal at quarter-time, but a three-goal second quarter had Moama in front at the main break, and the men in black and white never looked back.
But the Magpies again had the yips in front of goal, kicking 9.13, with Khy Stovell kicking two.
Peter Quanchi did his all for the Eagles, booting three in a best on ground performance, but was unable to lift his side past the Magpies.
Moama coach Luke Eldridge said it wasn't his side's best game of the season, but the result was what mattered.
“Winning ugly is a thing that comes to kind,” he said.
“We were happy to come away with the win even if it wasn't our best game we have played for the season.
“There were some concerns, especially in the latter part of the match where United got within a goal and we were missing a lot of shots, we missed a lot of opportunities and from guys who are good goal kickers.
“But at the end of the day we got the win and that's key.”
The Magpies had openly discussed changes to game plan and structures during the break, and Eldridge said there were some good signs in their return to the field.
“We've been looking at movement through the corridor instead of going out wide, and when the game opened up in the third quarter it worked really well,” he said.
“But we have a long way to go, we are looking at some of our upcoming games and how it will work and it's working well at training but we know we have a lot of work left to do to execute it in game.”
United coach Adam Sutherland said while he was pleased to see improvement from his side, the result was what mattered.
“Obviously it was an improved performance which we are happy about,” he said.
“But we didn't get the result we were looking for.
“The inability to play four consistent quarters with consistent contributions from individuals is an occurring issue that we are going to have to keep looking at and working on.
“We know we are improving, but the key for us is to look at those areas and put the work in if we want to get the results we are looking for as a side.”
Sutherland said while there were areas that needed work, he had confidence in what the side was capable of.
“I've never had any doubt that when we apply ourselves and bring the effort, we can play some really good footy,” he said.
“The struggle we have found obviously is our ability to maintain that throughout an extended period, but that's also going to come with a bit more experience and playing together.
“There is work to do there, we know we have some challenges and that's part of the game, so we will keep working on it as the season goes on.”
While the fixture may yet change due to COVID-19 restrictions, United is scheduled to host Congupna at Echuca South, while Moama hits the road to play Mulwala.
