Rich River will welcome back Australian golfing legends when the SParms PGA Legends Tour tee’s off, with 76 entries confirmed in the field gunning for the $30,000 purse.
In its third year, the tournament has developed into one of the key events on the Legends Tour calendar, and Rich River Golf Club chief executive officer Shane Gloury is tipping another bumper tournament.
“Peter Senior is one of the headline acts, he’s been back the last two years,” Gloury said.
“We’ve also got Peter Fowler who’s a former Australian Open winner, Mike Harwood who finished runner-up in a British Open a number of years ago.
“High-quality players like Andre Stolz who won on the US tour back in the day, Michael Long is a former winner at Rich River, and Terry Price is a mainstay on the Australian PGA Tour.”
Moama Bowling Club is on board as the tournament’s major sponsor once again, and Gloury thanked MBC for its involvement in bringing the prestigious event back into town.
“We’re very grateful for the support of the Moama Bowling Club who are the major sponsors of the event,” Gloury said.
“We’re grateful that we’re able to work with Paul and the team at the MBC who put together the major sponsorship package.
“It’s a good opportunity for both clubs to work together to bring another high-quality event to town.”
With play set to start on the East Course, the greens are in prime condition, according to Gloury.
“Our golf course maintenance team that works under superintendent Jarrod Castle have been gearing the East Course up,” he said.
“It plays and presents on Thursday and Friday in as good condition as it can be. It will make for an excellent quality golf course that I’m sure the players will enjoy.”
Michael Long will return to defend his back-to-back titles, and will do it in forecast sunny conditions across the two days.
Spectator entry will be free for the tournament.
