Phillip King dominated the Mount Hope Breeders Plate 1 on Saturday, September 28, by claiming first and second places while simultaneously placing the second race from Mount Hope on that same day.
For the second time in as many weeks, the Kyabram Racing Pigeon Club members travelled to Mount Hope to release their pigeons, almost 400km from home.
Kyabram West’s Phillip King did the double with two of his birds arriving back in a time of four hours and 52 minutes at a velocity of 1284.438 metres per minute.
King’s second pair arrived roughly 30 minutes later, clocking a time of five hours and 25 minutes at a velocity of 1151.42.
Rod Clark of Echuca Village claimed third with his nine birds crossing the line nearly an hour after King’s second at a time of six hours and 23 minutes, velocity 951.665.
However, Clark got his revenge, topping the second Mount Hope event, with his birds returning in three hours and 50minutes at a whopping velocity of 1584.526 metres per second.
King claimed second in four hours and 22 minutes at 1426.973 while Echuca East’s Andrew Williamson ran third just five minutes later at 1372.507.
After a strong week, King remains atop his throne on 209 points.
The club will travel to Cobar on Monday, October 7.
