More than 60 junior footballers, spread across three age levels — and a mixture of boys and girls — turned out on Victoria Park on Tuesday night for an Echuca Junior Football Club pre-season training session.
Alongside the new youth girls program there are expected to be new teams.
Everyone at the event seemed excited by Santa Claus’s visit and the chance to train alongside the players they watch on a Saturday, as several senior squad members assisted with the event.
Players from the under-18 team helped out with the under-10 group and a mix of a dozen senior players, including co-coach Andrew Walker and club stalwarts, ran the under-13 and under-15 groups through their paces, finishing with a quick match.
Training will resume in mid to late February, but players intending to be involved in the season should keep an eye out for early-bird registration announcements in mid-January.
Coaches will be announced about the same time as training resumes, once there is a stronger indication of player numbers in each age group.
