Attracting more than 1000 people, Saturday night racing was headlined by round eight of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series, with Chris Solomon taking out the showpiece event in the #83 car.
Solomon started at the front of the grid for the A-main race alongside Jordy Rae who finished second, while Jordyn Charge rounded out the podium.
In the SDAV Hotrods, Russell Hovey took out first place ahead of Shannon Meakins and Brendan Roberts, while Brad Smith was fastest in the late model event, beating Brendan Hucker and Brock Edwards to the line.
“We had 42 sprintcars, eight or nine hot rods and about the same in the late model division,” track owner Dave Roberts said.
“The crowd was awesome, we had a good turn-out and we finished close to on time.
“The racing was sensational, everybody’s keen to come back.
“It was well done by everyone concerned for the opening night of the season.”
The next meeting at Heartland Raceway is in less than two weeks’ time, with the Saturday, February 18 meeting set to feature 360 Allstar Sprintcars, Vintage Speedway and GOSA Sedans.
