Reid stars in Vic Country opener

Reid tallied 21 disposals and 10 marks in his first Vic Country outing for the tournament, including a game-saving grab in the dying stages as the clash at Thebarton Oval went down to the wire.

Country led early in the contest before a four-goal-to-one second quarter the way of SA saw the hosts lead by nine points at half-time.

The Vics returned the favour with four of their own, before taking the upper hand in a see-sawing fourth quarter to run away with a 9.8 (62) to 8.12 (60) triumph.

Reid’s strong run of form at half-back for the Pioneers in the NAB League looks to have carried over to the national stage, and he will look to take that form into next Sunday’s game at the Gabba when Victoria Country faces Allies.
