“One hundred per cent! It’s been overwhelming,” 28-year-old Haley commented about his introduction to Rennie.
“Training’s been really good.” Recruits? “Yes, we have two from De La Salle (A Grade Amateurs) in Hamish Curtis and Harry Zaia who are both midfield/wing players.
“And we have Charlie Wallace, a big key position player who can play centre-half-back or centre-half-forward. A good big man is so important.”
Haley played in the top amateur competition in Melbourne with De La Salle and rates the club’s trio of recruits highly.
When appointed to the Rennie top job in August this year, he was playing good football with the Yarrawonga Pigeons.
It’s a different situation now for Haley. “I’ve always done what the coaches have said but now I’m in that position! I’m enjoying it,” he said.
The Hoppers’ coach for season 2022 has taken to coaching like a duck to water. Eighteen months ago, the carpenter moved from Melbourne and has settled in at Silverwoods Yarrawonga, and at Rennie Football Netball Club.
Rennie netball will commence preparing for the 2022 season in the new year. A further story will appear in the coming weeks.
