Rochester Mural Festival will kick off on Saturday evening with its Meet the Artists dinner, acting as the launching pad for a full week of painting ― starting early on Sunday morning.
Two-time winner Kerry Nicholson heads the list of artists for the week-long celebration, which attracts thousands of visitors to Rochester for the week.
The eight finalists for the 2022 mural festival include three representatives of the Campaspe region, tattoo artist Reggie (Christina) Rankin and the partnership of Maryann Jenkins and Joyce Demprey.
The other competitors are Chris Duffy, Jared Farrow, Gren Freeman, Rebecca Murray and Graham Wilson, and Marco Pennacchia.
This year’s winner will be announced at noon on Sunday, March 27.
Rochester netball’s Community Bank Invitational will involve junior and senior players from throughout the region, starting on Saturday morning at the recreation reserve.
On the same day Moon Oval will kick off the Rochester football season when the Tigers tackle Victorian Amateur club St Kevins in a practice match at 2pm.
After a frustrating two seasons of COVID-affected competition the Goulburn Valley Football League is expecting a bumper season of interest in its top flight competition.
Jaycob Dingwall will be the key man as Rochester’s Section one Campaspe Tennis Association team will contest the grand final at Echuca on Saturday.
Dingwall has been outstanding this season and although the team will go in as an underdog, captain Karen Taylor holds some hope of an upset result.
Rochester Bowls Club has won the nod of the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Bowls Region and will host the five Campaspe division grand finals on Saturday, March 26.
