The club hosted the opening round of the 2021 series on February 21 and 22 after last year’s event was cancelled in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In all, there were 275 entries throughout the two days of competition, with a range of skill levels and experience on display.
Club president Jay Gibson told Karticle Media he couldn’t have been happier with the return of the sport for so many passionate people.
“It’s a record for our club,” Gibson said of the number of entries.
“We’ve picked up some of the bigger teams, some haven’t been here for quite a while, some haven’t been here at all.”
Gibson said he and his fellow organisers remained positive despite the competition being held just days after Victoria’s snap five-day lockdown.
“We played it positive, we just kept forging ahead as if it were going ahead,” he said.
“We didn’t want to cancel it, and we had planned we were running until we possibly couldn’t.
“Now, fortunately for us, it’s on, and it’s on in a big way.”
The next round of the Golden Power Series is scheduled to be held at Goulburn Valley Kart Club on March 21 and 22.
