The Steamers have been creeping ever closer to Bendigo by consistently taking more rinks than their title rivals and winning by bigger margins.
That trend continued in round 11, as Moama posted a huge score against Marong, winning the tie 18-117 to 0-60.
The Kevin Anderson-skipped rink was in devastating form, his squad of Brock Keenan (lead), Kevin Brennan (second) and David Keenan (third) outscoring the opposition 40-6.
Alex Marshall (29-16) and Cameron Keenan (25-17) also skipped strong wins for Moama, while Matt Robertson’s quartet won a tight contest 23-21.
The dominant win was made even sweeter considering Marong had been one of the two sides to defeat Moama this season.
At Eaglehawk Bowls Club, Bendigo picked up the win but dropped two rinks, scoring only 14 competition points to Moama’s 18.
It brings Moama to 146 points, just behind Bendigo’s 147, the Steamers possessing a far superior shot difference of +226 versus just +91.
One of the sides will likely earn a significant advantage at the top on Saturday as the leaders clash at Bendigo Bowls Club.
Moama won all four rinks in the only previous meeting this campaign.
