Yze was one of Shepparton United’s main contributors in Sunday’s incredible fightback as the Dees toppled unbeaten Seymour in an 11.5 (71) to 8.10 (58) victory.
The skilful veteran booted three crucial fourth-quarter goals as he helped spearhead his side to a stunning come-from-behind victory.
With his side down by 18 points at the last break United coach Jason Ritchie threw Yze’s magnet to full-forward and it paid dividends.
Yze kicked the first two of the last term before he booted his third to help draw United level.
The Peter Ryan medallist confessed it was up there with one of more special wins in his sporting careers.
“It’s one of the more ridiculous ones,” Yze said with a hint of disbelief.
“As you get older, you enjoy them a bit more. What a grand final.
“We knew we just had to throw everything at them and hopefully we get a run on and we were lucky enough that we did.”
Yze, who is also an assistant coach for the senior side, highlighted how important the grand final triumph was for his club.
“For the club as you know, we’ve gone through a massive couple of years,” he said.
“Even this year, playing 14 one day and then forfeiting a game, so to win the granny, it’s a dream, it’s actually a dream, you couldn’t have scripted it.
“I’m so stoked, so happy for the boys and so happy for the club after all the effort they have put in to get us up and going.
“It’s amazing; as a club we are on the way forward.”
