Priest was philosophical after his team was beaten by 106 points on Saturday against Deniliquin Rams, who piled on 37 scoring shots to 11.
The Rams won the match 20.17 (137) to 4.7 (31), United’s second successive 100-point loss and with a Good Friday appointment with a rampaging Moama this week.
Deniliquin has kicked 39 goals in its first two rounds, 19 against Barooga which was super brave against Tongala, losing by just 14 points.
The Blues were, however, missing several of their big names from the previous week.
In round one against Tongala the Echuca United team faces a 28.11 (179) to 4.6 (30) scoreline and it Easter appointment with Moama does not look any easier than its opening two games.
They will play Moama for the three Jacks cup, having watched from afar as Moama took an 80-point opening round win against Rumbalara, 14 goals to two. Then backed it up with a 140-point win against Nathalia on Saturday, kicking 23 goals to two.
Priest said the team would continue to look at areas where it could improve and attempt to implement those on game day.
“We will continue to take out the positives from our games and continue to work.
"Deniliquin has picked up pretty well, and with Tongala and Moama, word is around the league that they will be strong’’ he said.
United has faced a full-strength Tongala and then the same against Deniliquin, with the injury list again empty for its round three opponent Moama.
“There are two ways we can look at it. Worry about the result or use it to give us a good indication of where we at, and what we need to do to improve,” he said.
Priest said a trademark of Deniliquin was their size and his team was giving away plenty of it on Saturday.
They held livewire Rams Reid Crowe early in the match, but he kicked three in the last quarter.
"They had a bloke (Todd Gallagher) who kicked 10 last week. He only kicked three on the weekend, so the job Mitch Lourey did on him was fantastic.
"The only marks he got were 45 metres out,“ Priest said
Joe Harney continued his great start to the season, in defence, where there was plenty of work to do.
“I thought the whole back six were great. Oliver Poole, who is just 17, was almost our best player and our young guys tried hard,” Priest said.
Jessie Garner played forward for United and not seeing a lot of action was often called on to provide a mid-field option.
"Our rucks were undersized, but both Luke Swank and Darcy Ramage worked hard.
“We are certainly doing the best we can. We had three miss the game on the weekend, who should be back for the Moama game.
"The Moama game is always a good build-up,’’ he said.
