Tongala, Rumbalara, Mulwala, Moama and Echuca United extended their recent unbeaten runs as they prevailed in their respective clashes on Saturday afternoon.
Tongala set up a mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash this weekend against fellow unbeaten side Deniliquin after the Blues thumped Barooga 75-16.
Tonny and the Rams are a perfect 8-0 to start the year — a streak that will come to an end for one team next weekend.
Blues coach Grace Hammond said Saturday’s resounding result against Barooga was a great way to lead into the big clash against Deni.
“We went out firing, we knew we had to obviously, having Deni coming up this week,” Hammond said.
“The girls knew what our game plan was and, same as every other week, stuck to it. It’s easy in one of those games to get carried away.
“Obviously they’re a great side. To beat them we’ll need to beat their attacking end.
“They don’t often waste the ball when they get the opportunity, so our defensive pressure has to be right up from that first whistle.
“Our fitness hopefully can get the job done, but either way it will be a great game.”
