Five of the 11 teams in the competition look as if a purple patch of form could deliver them the title come the final on March 2.
Falling at the final hurdle last year, Mooroopna is again unbeaten in 2024-25, a perfect eight from eight so far.
A step behind Mooroopna and Echuca Green last season, Nagambie has distinguished itself this campaign as the number two contender, boasting a record of 7-2, including a win over Echuca in round four.
The defending champion, Echuca, is a little behind the pace in fifth at 5-3, but holds either one or two games in hand over all sides above them.
Other potential contenders have been Shepparton Youth Club United and Moama, SYC featuring in the finals last year, while Moama, newly formed from a core of former Echuca White players, has made a determined push up the ladder this year.
Local sides Echuca and Moama will be looking to warm back into the competition on Sunday as they take on sixth and seventh-placed sides, Cooma and Nathalia respectively.
Also on the horizon for the league is a second intra-league fixture, scheduled for January 17 at Victoria Park.
The match will see all-star-style squads formed, traditional GMC-based clubs forming one outfit to take on a squad made up of the clubs with roots in Cricket Shepparton.
The first intra-league game was due to be held in Mooroopna on December 6, but unfavourable weather saw the match washed out.
Echuca will take on Cooma at Victoria Park this Sunday, while Moama will host Nathalia. First ball in both fixtures is scheduled for 11am.
