This particular piece of high-tech wizardry ensures members can enjoy the sport despite the arctic chill that seems intent on freezing the population of Yarrawonga and district into a heartbreaking winter hibernation.
To this end the club are continuing to experience exhilarating participation numbers despite what the elements continue to throw at us.
The Autumn Pairs final was conducted on Tuesday, June 7 after four qualifying rounds and, true to form for this event, was decided in the final stanza of a five-frame thriller.
Darren Thompson and Ashley Nicholls took the opening singles against Jake Thompson (filling in for Club Treasurer Daryl McKernan who was unavailable due to a family commitment) and Nev Page but Jake and Nev fought back under pressure to level up at two all after the reverse matches.
Darren and Ashley then took out the deciding frame comfortably and are to be congratulated on being deserving title holders for this year.
Monday, June 6 saw the Monthly Club Challenge where Heie Hansen put on a clinic to easily take out Nev Page in the final. ClubMulwala provides winner and runner up prizes for this event so both players left feeling rather pleased with their efforts in making the final table.
Social night events on Wednesday, June 1 and June 8 were taken out respectively by Nev Page (over nephew Chris) and Kevin Young who ended Darren Thompson’s hopes of a winning week after his Autumn Pairs success.
